Rules of poker may seem to be more difficult that they are in reality. We will illustrate them using the example of Texas Hold’em (or just holdem) poker, as this game is one of the most popular at online casinos.
Before getting down to the Texas Holdem rules it’s necessary to learn the jargon of the game. If such terms as flop and hands sound gibberish to you, then go to some poker lingo website. After that you can get familiar with Holdem rules.
You should know that being “on the button” is a very privileged position at Texas Holdem. The players’ sitting positions are fixed here, so you should consider sitting first, counting clockwise. Our poker guide insists on the fair allocation of seats by dealing one card to each dealer, with the owner of the highest card being the dealer.
In the pre-flop round all Holdem poker players make the so-called blind bets, putting money in the pot without knowing, what they will be dealt with. In limit holdem poker, the blind bets consists of small and big bets (which is the minimum bet allowed, with small blind bet being the half of the big one). Other rules of poker include further rounds and betting patterns.
The dealer deals two hole cards to all the players, after what players begin to bet or to raise stakes. Different online casinos prefer their own betting patterns, but usually holdem rules include one bet and three raises per round. These two face-down cards are the “property” of each holdem poker gambler, which can be called during succeeding rounds.
Further holdem poker guide includes the flop round, when the dealer deals three face-up cards for each play to fold or to make his or her hand better by adding one card from the flop. Another betting round follows. The game ends with “the river” and calling the hands. The best hands win! Such are the rules of poker, just learn the types of hands first.
